How Do Botox & Fillers Work?

Different injectables have different ingredients and different methods for helping decrease the signs of aging, reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles, and help fill areas around your face. Many dermal fillers use ingredients like hyaluronic acid. This acid is something the body produces naturally but produces less of as we age. The acid helps add volume to the skin. Botox Cosmetic and similar injectables use a neurotoxin to stop muscles from moving. Because wrinkles and lines are caused by our faces moving, these injectables help decrease the visibility of lines and wrinkles by stopping these movements temporarily.

Are Botox & Fillers Painful?

So, needles are often only a favorite for a few people. Some people are afraid of needles to the point that they might skip getting flu shots or other vaccines. Let’s start by saying that needles administer Botox and dermal fillers. That said, the needles are often much thinner than the ones used for other medical treatments. Most patients do not consider Botox or fillers to be painful. However, they often do report slight pinches during their treatment. Of course, going to the right provider is one of the most essential elements to decreasing discomfort.

Can You Undo Botox & Fillers?

Your results from injectables like Botox Cosmetic cannot be undone. However, any results from Botox cosmetic or similar injectables will fade over time. Fillers, on the other hand, are a different story. Some fillers can dissolve. Because some fillers are made using hyaluronic acid, you can actually dissolve them with a different injectable. If patients do not like how they look after getting fillers, they can talk to an injector to see if it is possible to alter their appearance.
